We are foreign and do not have health insurance. Because I am the one working right now my wife does not qualify for a S.S.N. About a week ago we discovered that she is pregnant. I would like to know if anybody knows a good way of financing a pregnancy in these conditions. Are health insurance or paying everything the only options to pay the expenses of prenatal care and delivery? Worried father.Answer: Most hospitals offer a program if you are paying for pregnancy/labor/delivery out of pocket. When we had our first daughter I had no insurance and made too much to get medicaid. The total cost was $3000 for a normal delivery. We slowly paid for it through out the pregnancy. In the end I had an emergency c-section and had to pay $15,000. I am still paying it off. Good Luck but even if you plan ahead of time unforseen things happen. By the way my sister did the same thing but had a normal pregnancy and didn't have to pay anymore than the $3,000. So check your local hospitals and see what they offer. ![]() How to get Health insurance during pregnancy?Question: I am 3 months pregnant and I plan on working through my pregnancy at least up to 7 months. I plan on being a full time mom for some time so I won’t be coming back to work. How do I find out where to get coverage for my self when I leave?Answer: You would need to go on COBRA after you leave until the baby comes. ![]()
