Answer: Do you mean the morning-after pill, or the regular contraceptive pill?
Oral contraceptive pills have to be taken every day. It usually takes a few days minimum to start working. You will need to see your doctor for an exam and prescription before you can get them. They do have some side effects and you can try different types. They need to be taken every day, usually at the same time, to prevent pregnancy, and they sometimes don't work if you use them with antibiotics.
The morning-after pill you take after unprotected sex, it needs to be within 3 days but is best within 1 to be really effective. It's usually two pills which you take 12 hours apart.
I think you should see your doctor to discuss this.
