Pepcid Pregnancy

is it ok to take pepcid complete during pregnancy? i'm 30 weeks pregnant and have HORRIBLE heartburn?

Question: tums dont help me anymore unfortunately. i've called my dr about so many other things and they are probably tired of hearing from me lol. i have a dr appt in a few days so i'll ask them then. thanks everyone

Answer: Absolutely, it's prescribed all the time after the first trimester. Ask your MD; it's much cheaper to fill a prescription for this if you have insurance. Also, Pepcid works fairly well, but Prilosec is available over the counter as well and works by a different mechanism. It's also very safe and generally considered much more effective. Hope that helps; I know how bad acid reflux can be!

Can I take pepcid during pregnancy?

Question: Actually, is it safe to take the equate brand? I am 12 weeks pregnant on monday and I have had horrible heartburn from the beginning. I lost my sheet on what is ok and not ok. Tums do not help me and i have indigestion no matter what i eat or how few or often.

Answer: i had heartburn at a very early stage in pregnancy also and it didnt matter for me either what i ate or what i didnt eat. i think each person is different. i would speak with your doctor though just to verify that you can take that. Tums always seemed to help ease mine enough that i was okay. There may even be a presciption medicane that is safe that the doctor can prescribe for you especially if it is that bad. good luck.

Previd or Pepcid AC during pregnancy?

Question: Had anyone one used this type of otc for their strong stomach acid, burping, and stomach upset. I have a doc app nov.9 and I want something to hold me over. I have hyperemesis also.

Answer: I would not take either one unless you are getting damage because of acid reflux. They recently found that those who take proton pump inhibitors have a higher risk of broken bones. They have NO idea what that may do to a fetus who is developing their structural system. Stick with the tums or leave a message for your doctor's nurse and ask for advice.
