Medical Insurance PregnancyForum - Questions & AnswersWhich medical insurance covers a pregnancy?Question: I would like to know if all medical insurances in USA caver the pregnancy. And I also would like to know if they do it in different ways? So, my question is what is the best medical insurance for the pregnant and how much will it cost.Answer: I have Aetna and it's covering everything. I'm insured through my parents though so I don't know how much they pay. Just so you know: 1. I have only 1 co-pay at $15 for the whole pregnancy 2. I pay $500 to the hospital when I go in to deliver 3. The baby is covered for 31 days after birth EDIT: Julie, you don't automatically get medicaid. You have to qualify. I was going to get it because I thought my dad's insurance wouldn't cover my pregnancy, but they said I made too much money. ![]() Visitor to Canada medical insurance including pregnancy?Question: Hello. My wife is an American citizen living with me in Canada awaiting her Peppermint Residency application. I have tried looking, but does anybody know of any all inclusive medical/health insurance that includes pregnancy if she were to get pregnant? We have another 6 to 12 months wait before any provincial health care would be availiableAnswer: You'll have to look into something like Blue Cross or Great West life if you want any sort of insurance coverage for her. Or look at what is available to her in the US. As a US citizen temp living outside the country (which, until she gets her peppermint residency card she is) she should be able to get something. Either that or don't get her pregnant. ![]() Did your medical insurance cover your pregnancy?Question: My hubby and I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas through his employer and were wondering when I get preggers will it cover it? Did you have to pay anything out of pocket? Thanks. TTC #1Answer: very little, i had that with my 1st, the even covered a breastpump that was over 300.00, i think i haqd some 20.00 co-pays after my son was born, but they covered all my midwife care, would have covered the birth there, but i ended up going to the hosp, they covered everything there plus my 3 day stay, and 2 weeks later covered my US to check for retained placenta, and my hosp stay and blood transfusions after my emercency D&C to remove the placenta. it was very good coverage they also covered my son for the 1st mth of his life, so if he had needed NICU care it would have covered that, and it covered his well baby checks EDIT: i remeber what co-pays i had while PG it was ONLY for chiropratic care, i had to give them a 20.00 at every appt, but the rest was covered call the insurance they will send or email you a packet that tells you what IS and what is NOT covered. like if i had needed a csection that was only 80% covered. ![]() |
